Shree Mahendra Adarsha Secondary School

Shree Mahendra Adarsha Secondary School, in brief is familiar among the local inhabitants as MASS is one of the oldest schools of Lalitpur district. The foundation of formal education system in the community was established in 2014 BS with the name uttered as Mahendra Adarsha School which has immensely glorious history of more than sixty years. The school is entirely located at the middle part of Imadol of Mahalaxmi Municipalityb which is about 4 KM east direction from the main business centre of Lalitpur District, Lagankhel. The foundation stone of Shree Mahendra Adarsha Secondary School was laid in 1956 AD as primary school level. During the contemporary time, there were very few schools even in the city areas of Lalitpur. In spite of boundaries of the location of this school, which was very near to Patan City, (one of the historical cities in the Kathmandu Valley inundated with historical evidences of 6th-7th century AD civilization behind it) during that time the students had a big hurdle to grab the opportunity for pursuit of learning and having regular education from the government education system mainstream. Even, it was situated so close to the historical Patan City of our nation, the establishment of school was possible only after long years of struggle of the dedicated and motivated social workers and educationist in the historical year of 1956 AD. By the tremendous and restless efforts and initiatives of enthusiastic and social motive villager dwellers and with the motivation and inspiration of late WRITER Gangadhoj K.C, pioneer local social workers late Capt. Nara Bahadur K.C., Brigadier General (rt.) late Chuttra Bahadur Thapa, Man Bahadur Khatri, Bakhat Bahadur Nagarkoti, Nhuchchhe Lal Maharjan and other pioneers, the foundation of the school could be materialized.

In the very beginning, the mode of imparting education to the local children was started inside the roof of a small hut. There was no school building to provide education to the village children till then. They had to walk a long distance to Patan City to get school education, which ultimately resulted to have very few numbers of schools going children from our community and surrounding community clusters. Girls were deprived of going to school far from their homes for decades due to not having easy access of schools. Establishment of this school brought a significant and historical moment with changing in mind and deed of the whole society and surrounding communities in order to fulfill the pursuit of acquiring foundation of education in their own village. So far as, after the inspection of foundation of school in the community, there we could see and feel of change in habit of local children to attend the school not only from the Imadol Village but also from the surrounding villages like Siddhipur, Tikathali, Lubhu, Sirutar and Lamatar too.

Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,

Our school has successfully completed 64 years of establishment. It has a glorious history, satisfied present and hopeful future. I thank to all the stakeholders who have been associated with this school so far. We look at ourselves as a community of learners. Our focus is on the children and the learning process. We want our students to be self-disciplined, self-governed, and self-reliant. Children’s learning involves and revolves around an effective partnership between home and school. The stronger the partnership is the more the children get benefited. As far as possible, our teachers have made effort to nourish the hidden potential and talent of each and every student. We have ample opportunities to get both general and technical education after SEE. I request you all to grasp the chance of getting skill based education to make a secured future with work and employment.

Finally I appeal for the continuous support from each and every person and stake holders for the betterment of the school.

Thank you!
