A Legacy of Excellence in Education

Shree Mahendra Adarsha Secondary School, familiar among the local inhabitants as MASS, is one of the oldest schools in the Lalitpur district. The foundation of the formal education system in the community was established in 2014 BS under the name Mahendra Adarsha School, boasting a glorious history of more than sixty years. Located in the middle part of Imadol in Mahalaxmi Municipality, about 4 KM east of the main business center of Lalitpur District, Lagankhel, the school’s foundation stone was laid in 1956 AD as a primary school. At that time, there were very few schools even in the city areas of Lalitpur. Despite its proximity to Patan City, a historical area rich in 6th-7th century AD civilization, students faced significant barriers to accessing education through the government system. The establishment of the school was made possible after years of struggle by dedicated social workers and educators, inspired by figures like the late Gangadhoj K.C. and local pioneers such as Capt. Nara Bahadur K.C. and Brigadier General (rt.) Chuttra Bahadur Thapa, along with others.

In the very beginning, education was imparted to local children inside a small hut, as there was no dedicated school building. Students had to walk long distances to Patan City for education, resulting in a low enrollment from the community and surrounding areas. Girls, in particular, were often deprived of education due to the lack of nearby schools. The establishment of this school marked a significant turning point, transforming the mindset and actions of the entire society and surrounding communities toward the importance of education. Following the school’s foundation, attendance improved dramatically, with local children from Imadol Village as well as neighboring villages like Siddhipur, Tikathali, Lubhu, Sirutar, and Lamatar beginning to pursue education in their own village, thereby fulfilling their pursuit of knowledge.

Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,

Our school has successfully completed 64 years of establishment. It has a glorious history, satisfied present and hopeful future. I thank to all the stakeholders who have been associated with this school so far. We look at ourselves as a community of learners. Our focus is on the children and the learning process. We want our students to be self-disciplined, self-governed, and self-reliant. Children’s learning involves and revolves around an effective partnership between home and school. The stronger the partnership is the more the children get benefited. As far as possible, our teachers have made effort to nourish the hidden potential and talent of each and every student. We have ample opportunities to get both general and technical education after SEE.
